Hello, my name is Michelle Harris

I’m a naturalist, educator, and advocate for connecting people with the natural world. As the author of Explore the Green Side of Edmonton, a local nature connection guide, I’ve spent my career helping others discover the beauty and benefits of nearby wild spaces. Over the past 15 years in environmental education, I’ve had the privilege of working with communities, schools, and organizations to inspire meaningful connections with nature that create real change.

My work has been recognized through the Spirit of NAIT Alumni Award and by contributing to four Emerald Award–winning teams, honours that reflect a deep commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable outdoor recreation. With a degree in Biological Sciences (Ecology) and a diploma in Conservation Biology, I bring both scientific grounding and a passion for authentic nature connection to everything I do.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: everyone deserves their own pathway to nature. Whether through hands-on learning, quiet reflection outdoors, or creative projects that reimagine our relationship with the environment, I’m here to help people find the way that works best for them.
